WORLD! Over 1,200 people die every day in the United States alone from smoking and chewing. That is more than from any other cause including car accidents, alcohol, AIDS, suicide, homicide, fires, cocaine, heroin and other drugs COMBINED!!
This section is designed to give you the latest information on quitting tobacco. Whether you are a tobacco user, former tobacco user or are curious about how to help someone else quit, this section should give you the tools and information for your purposes.
Some excellent resources are available especially the Colorado Quitline 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669) where tobacco users can receive FREE nicotine patches or gum and help over the phone.
The Colorado Quitline also has a website: www.coquitline.org where you can receive individualized help online.
Our program also promotes a quit tobacco class called "You Can Quit". It is a quarterly class with four sessions. It is held at North Colorado Medical Center. Cost is $10 for materials. NOW for a LIMITED TIME, upon completing all four sessions, you will receive a $10 gift card from Target. Call (970) 304- 6470 x2138 for more information or to sign up.
Additionally, there is an ongoing tobacco cessation support group held at the Family Resource Center 1403 2nd Street in Greeley every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 7:30pm. There is no charge, so feel free to just drop on in.
For young people there is a special website just for them to help them quit called Fix Nixer.
Weld County also boasts a volunteer-led cessation course called You Can Quit. It is held quarterly. For more infomation please see our calendar or contact us.
